Mechanical Designer

Duties

  • Receiving work copy (List of components and skid structure information) from estimating department to layout 2D (AutoCAD) P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagram) to submit to the customer for review; after approval, designing 3D (SolidWorks) GA (general arrangement) designing water panel and/or chemical skid for submittal. After both P&ID & GA has been accepted by the customer, breaking down each individual steel skid drawings and any custom component fabrication drawings for the shop.

  • Responsible for creating Bill of Materials (BOM’s) generating within SAP – MRP system to assign new Top Level & sub-assembly Bom numbers adding them to all revised working drawing packages for purchasing department & generating on drawing per design specifications and/or company protocol

  • Requesting for Quotes (RFQ’s) with Lead Times to all existing vendors or if included new part in an updated design within the upgrade process reaching out to first time vendors, keeping track of received quotes within the job folder on the company server to assist purchasing when SAP triggered order schedules

  • Supervise all shop fabricator and check in-coming components/parts sheet metal and raw material for correct sizing to associated CAD/Fab drawings
